Buffy Summers is twenty years old and is currently attending UC Sunnydale. She is an only child, born to Hank and Joyce Summers. Buffy’s best friends are Willow Rosenberg, Xander Harris and Angelus “Angel” O’Reilly.
Angelus “Angel” O’Reilly is twenty years old and is currently attending UC Sunnydale with his best friends Buffy Summers, Willow Rosenberg and Xander Harris. He is also an only child and has been secretly in love with Buffy Summers since he was seventeen.
Buffy and Angel go through their college days just as they always have done, as best friends. At graduation, Angel admits that he’s in love with Buffy and asks her if she feels the same way. In a moment of blind panic, she tells him that she doesn’t return his feelings. Angel leaves town heart broken.
Buffy feeling incredibly guilty about lying to Angel tries to find him and apologize. She arrives at the airport to try and catch him before he leaves but he’s already on the plane and he leaves.
Five years later…
Buffy is transferred to New York City for her job. In her new job she finds an old and familiar face. Angel is her new boss.
At first he’s very cold and mean to her, throwing the past in her face a few times, telling her that he wished he hadn’t spent so many years pining after her and that it was all just a big waste of nothing. Buffy tries to explain that she panicked when he confronted her because she’d just gotten an offer to go overseas for her job and already had a lot on her mind that day.
While he doesn’t just forgive her right away, he begins to soften. Buffy admits that she does still love him and that she’s never forgotten him.
