Chapter 9

“So, who was that?” Faith smirked when Buffy sat down.

“Oh, his name is Angel.” Buffy blushed.

“You’ve established a first name basis? Damn, it’s worse than I thought.” Faith chuckled. “So, when are you seeing him again?”

“I’m not.” Buffy told her.

“Whatever.” Faith rolled her eyes. “You and I both know you are, add to the fact that he’s a hottie. So, I repeat, when are you seeing him again?”

“I don’t know.” Buffy shrugged. “Besides, he’s not my type.”

“Since when is Tall, Dark and Gorgeous not your type?” Faith pondered. “Come on, B. I know you. You like him, and I have to admit he is pretty fucking gorgeous. So why not take the plunge? We are only here for a week, after all. I say go for it. You’ll always wonder if you don’t.”

“Faith, he’ll find out.” Buffy told her. “And you know the rest of that story. He’ll find out that I’m a whore and then he’ll leave. They always leave.”

“Then he doesn’t deserve you.” Faith told her. “You are my best friend, and if he’s too much of a moron to see what a wonderful and caring person you are, then fuck him.”

“Thank you.” Buffy told her. “Besides, I didn’t even get his number and New York’s a big city, so…”

“Um, B. Take a look at the side of your cup.” Faith pointed to her drink.

On the side of it was Angel’s phone number. Buffy stared down in shock.

“Damn, how did he do that?” she asked.

“The mystery of the male species.” Faith laughed. “So, call him.”

“I don’t call.” Buffy shook her head. “Besides, it’s probably just a fake number.”

Faith looks at the number and moves towards the phone booth not far from them. Buffy stared in shock as she dialed the number.

“Faith, what the fuck are you doing?!” Buffy whispered to her.

“Just shut up!” Faith whispered back.

“Hello?” the male voice answered.

“Is this Angel?” Faith asked.

“Depends. Who is this?” he asked.

“I asked you first.” Faith chuckled.

“Just tell me how the fuck you got this number.” he spat out.

“Calm down, buddy-boy.” Faith smirked. “Look you hit on my friend a few minutes ago.”

“So you’re a friend of Buffy’s.” Angel summed up.

“Aw, so I see that first name basis was established.” Faith noted. “Look, you both obviously want to see each other again, so I’ll tell you what. You meet her outside this coffee shop tomorrow night around midnight. Is that cool with you?”

“Yeah, but--” Angel said.

“Great. Later.” Faith hung up and turned to Buffy. “So, B, you got a date tomorrow night. Congratulations.”

“Sometimes, I really hate you.” Buffy glared at her as they walked away.
